The 1176 was a milestone in limiter technology, featuring a solid-state design though offering performance in a standard previously held by tube-based units, creating a unique sound and setting the bar for others to aspire to, as they do to this day. The signature fast attack and solid sound have attracted major artists and producers to demand the 1176 for almost a half century.

Warm Audio built the WA76 to emulate this performance, operational quality and warm sound personality by first paying close attention to the components that made it possible in the original, while offering more updated connectivity, like both XLR and TRS plugs for I/O, combined with features from the original design, like a Class A line level output amp and Cinemag transformers.
