The Istanbul Mehmet Nostalgia 50s Ride is a wonderful cymbal that will be on many collectors wish lists. Istanbuls master craftsmen created this beautiful cymbal by utilizing modern design and innovation, yet still being conscious of what it was that made the cymbals from this era so great. The Nostalgia 50`s Ride features an umbrella like profile and a sharper, larger bell than the Nostalgia 70s Ride. The large bell helps make the cymbal more pronounced with an extended wash. As for the umbrella like profile, this is a toss-up to many of the design elements of old. This especially helps make playing the bow of the cymbal with the shaft of the stick a breeze. This comes in handy while playing a lot of faster paced jazz patterns where youre using the ride as a crash ride. This cymbal also has an incredible rebound and a warm, woody, stick definition with a warm, almost dry sustain. In short this cymbal is great for capturing those classic jazz sounds of old, especially when there are so few cymbals that are still around from that time.
